Construction Begins on High-Speed Rail New Materials Base

Recently, construction officially commenced on the High-Speed Rail Transit Eco-Friendly New Materials Industry–University–Research Base, a major project under China’s National “863 Program”, invested in and developed by Hunan Yada Fenghui New Materials Co., Ltd.

The project is located in the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone, south of Qingxiang East Road, west of East 11th Road, north of South 3rd Line, and east of Zhongzhou Road.

The project covers a total land area of approximately 120 mu and has a total planned floor area of approximately 96,000 square meters, with a total investment of approximately RMB 800 million.

The project mainly includes:

  • An intelligent manufacturing center for eco-friendly water-based adhesives used in high-speed rail and rail transit
  • An intelligent manufacturing center for polyaniline anticorrosive new materials
  • A testing and quality control center
  • An R&D center
  • An integrated intelligent management center
  • Staff dormitories
  • Finished-product warehouses
  • Raw-material storage and supporting facilities

The project adopts a pipe-pile foundation system, with buildings constructed using both reinforced concrete frame structures and steel structures.

Upon completion, the base is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of:

  • 10,000 tons of eco-friendly water-based adhesive materials for high-speed rail and rail transit
  • 10,000 tons of water-based polyaniline anticorrosive coatings
  • 15,000 tons of UV-curable coatings

The project is jointly developed in close cooperation with the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, covering scientific research teams, technological achievements, and related resources.

As a major project under the National “863 Program”, it is designed to industrialize advanced research achievements in high-strength water-based adhesives and polyaniline anticorrosive new materials developed by the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry.

The related technologies have received major national scientific and technological awards, including the National Natural Science Award and awards for scientific and technological invention.

The project is also a major initiative in the rail transit industrial chain of the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone.

It is intended to support the safety and reliability of materials used in a wide range of industries, including:

high-speed rail, metro systems, urban rail transit, aviation, automobiles, ships, bridges, construction machinery, electronics, and communications.

The technological performance of the products has reached a world-leading level, enabling them to serve as substitutes for comparable imported materials.

Upon completion, the project is expected to fill an important technological and industrial gap in China, promote high-quality development, and strengthen technological innovation and industrial competitiveness in the field of advanced new materials.

It aims to establish high-speed rail transit eco-friendly new materials as a distinctive representative of Hunan’s new materials industry, while accelerating the industrial application of scientific and technological innovation.

Yada Fenghui owns 16 Chinese invention patents related to water-based adhesive technologies.

The company has successfully developed and manufactured high-strength environmentally friendly water-based adhesives for applications in:

high-speed railways, automobiles, hospitals, airport terminals, flooring systems, and other industrial and civil applications.

It has established a specialized production line capable of producing 1,000 tons of high-quality environmentally friendly water-based adhesives annually.

During the international bidding for the intelligent and environmentally friendly Beijing–Zhangjiakou High-Speed Railway, which served the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Yada Fenghui’s products demonstrated outstanding performance and strong cost competitiveness.

The company successfully competed against a number of leading international manufacturers of high-end water-based adhesives and became the exclusive supplier of water-based adhesives for CRRC’s Beijing–Zhangjiakou High-Speed Railway project.
